How Do You Join the IRS? It's Simple.
There are several easy ways to apply for employment with the IRS — starting with the application procedure stated in our individual vacancy announcements. Once you find a career opportunity you'd like to pursue, the position description in the announcement will direct you to the appropriate application method. Often, but not always, this involves filling out a form called Optional Application for Federal Employment (OF612), rather than sending us your resume. The completed form should then be sent to the address in the announcement.
Do Students Follow the Same Application Procedure?
The procedure is the same, but the best way for students to begin exploring our opportunities is to review our career areas and FAQs. In those sections, you'll discover everything you need to know, such as which vacancy announcements to check, what forms you will need to complete and when, who to contact for more information, and more. Look for additional information in our Student Opportunities section.
Something Else to Keep in Mind…
You may also check out our vacancy announcements at USAJOBS — the career site of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Federal Government's Human Resources Agency. New career opportunities are posted there every Monday and Tuesday, and include job postings from all federal agencies.
