Tax Resolution Representative

As a Tax Resolution Representative (TRR) in the Field Assistance function, you will be providing face-to-face assistance to taxpayers on a daily basis. The scope of this assistance will be broad and will include resolving examination, collection and account issues related to pre-filing, filing and post-filing processes. In this technical position, you will provide procedural assistance, technical tax guidance and tax-related accounting assistance to taxpayers. You will also be involved in compliance outreach activities, education and volunteer programs. Tax Resolution Representatives have GS-5/7/9 career ladders - which means they can enter as a grade 5 and advance to a grade 9 without further competition, and later compete for higher grades.

The skills you will need include:

  • Customer Service: The ability to work with customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
  • Communications: The ability to provide information to individuals or groups effectively (taking into account the audience and nature of the information); to make clear and convincing oral presentations; and to listen and respond to others. Technical competencies: Knowledge of Accounting Principles and Practices.
