Anita Sr. Relationship Tax Consultant I’m a Senior Relationship Tax Consultant, with SPEC which is Stakeholder Partnership Education and Communication. In my current position we are responsible for going out and trying to get partners. What we try to do is get people to partner with the IRS to help promote compliance or try to being Taxpayers into compliance. I started my career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1990 as a clerk typist. From there I went on to Tax Examiner from Tax Examiner I went on to a walk in office an I ended up with SPEC and I don’t think I’m going anywhere. To qualify for this position based on education you must have a bachelor’s or higher degree in a related field of study such as Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Taxation. My greatest achievement I feel would be coming into the organization that I’m with now which is Stakeholder Partnership Education and Communication. I’ve been in a lot of organizations with the Internal Revenue Service and this is a position that I really wanted so I had to do a lot of the leg work, a lot of homework, be prepared for the interviews and once I did it, I got it. I’ve been training since I’ve gotten to the IRS. When I first started they sent me to a six week intensive tax law training class, where they taught us the tax law so it would enable us to distinguish between the 1040 EZ and the 1040 return. I’ve been to the sales training. I’ve been to classroom instructor training where they taught me how to be a classroom instructor. I’ve been to on the job training where they teach you to be an on the job instructor. I’ve been to media relations training classes. Actually there’s never enough time in the day to get done what you set out to do. So the job is very exciting, it’s very, very hands on. There are just so many opportunities – there are a lot of positions in the IRS. This to me is the best position to have because I’ve done so many things that I never would have thought that I could have done if I wasn’t in this position.
