Janifer Budget Analyst I primarily work with our financial system and how it interfaces with some of our other systems, such as payroll, procurements, or our travel systems. I spend a great deal of time talking to our customers and helping them understand how budget relates to or impacts the other systems that they use on a daily basis. I graduated with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. Once I completed college, I worked for an investment -- global investment company, doing investing accounting. If you're interested in applying for a budget analyst position at the IRS, you definitely need to have a degree. You need to be a strong thinker, willing to learn new things, and just enthusiastic about learning all that you can about the federal budget process. Oh, the most enjoyable part of my job is definitely talking to people every day. I am a people person, and I really enjoy speaking to people in Texas, Arizona, New York, Florida, you name it, I speak to them every day, and it really helps to give me a better view of the IRS and what their mission is. I was originally hired as a budget analyst in 2004. I'm still a budget analyst now. I've received numerous promotions since I've been in my short term here in Internal Revenue Service, so the promotion potential is, is definitely there.
